We have been to two performances here and enjoyed both very much. It's a small theater and every seat is a good one. I would like to especially mention the manager, Mary. The last time we were there I had accidentally purchased tickets for a Blackfriars Theater in Virginia. When we arrived for the show in Rochester, we discovered my mistake. Mary helped us get the tickets refunded which was no easy task. But she did not give up and, finally, a month later we got our refund. We did stay for their performance and it was wonderful! I can't thank Mary enough for all of her help and kindness. I highly recommend visiting this theater!

Just saw the play “The Flight Before Christmas” at Blackfriars Theatre in Rochester New York. It was listed as a comedy, which I should have immediately triggered my senses. What could possibly be funny about an airplane crash? And what makes this funny because it happens on Christmas Eve? Well the answer is as simple as the play turns out to be, it’s not at all funny. It was barely understandable! At the intermission I polled the patrons that were seated around us and I asked,” What do you think this play is about?” The unanimous opinion was,” I’m not sure”. One theater goer offered that he thought the entire cast had actually all perished and the actors were acting out the individuals last thoughts as the plane crashed into the ground. This was the best answer I got. Most we not amused or entertained. Many said they were confused. Oh! AND NO ONE EVEN MENTIONED THE WORD FUNNY. So, I say, save your money and watch a rerun of the Christmas Carol at Gevea because this one is not too good! PS: Don’t double park in the parking lot on Sunday’s, it seems the theater shares the parking lot with the restaurant on the corner and double parking is not permitted.

Excellent excellent productions!!Putting on fantastic shows with talented folksCan only do small shows cause of smaller space but attention to detail makes it worth it for, sure!Cost of tickets is pretty high priced in my mind...but they own and support the building plus have paid staff...so ok....I just have to be selective in which shows I can afford and how often I can see them....maybe 1 a year...sigh...is all I can afford. Now reason I only give it 4 stars...Do not sit in back 4th row if you are tall....NO knee roomYou will be uncomfortable and wedged in.Fortunately the shows are so great...you may forget your legs have gone numb

Our family of three went to the theatre to see The Wedding Singer this summer. it was a great experience. Theatre is small enough to give everyone the best seat. You can also see the love for the arts from everyone associated with the performance. I hope this place is around for a long time!

We went to The Blackfriars theater for a matinee to see the play Proof. The actors were terrific and the producer Brian did a fabulous job. There were wonderful acoustics in there.
