tripadvisorI never tire of the hike here, which differs every time depending on the season and the flow of water. The hike has lots of stairs but is well worth the effort. The geology in this area is remarkable. We saw lots of great wildflowers and mushrooms on our walk.
MoreMy husband and I first went here in the summer of 2017 before we had kids. I loved this park then. It's my favorite of the ones we went to. We just went with our 5 and 7 year olds in November, and it was just as nice. We did both the gorge and rim trails, which were not easy, but the kids handled them well. It's a lot of up and down, which we expected. Along the trails are posts telling you how far you've walked and what to expect with the elevations. The trails are beautiful. Seeing it all carved within the rock is really neat. The waterfalls are so pretty, and it's neat to see how they're all connected. The big waterfall, Lucifer Falls, is like being in Lord of the Rings where the elves live with the staircases wrapping around the waterfall. Another plus, we didn't take advantage of in November, there is a a swimming space at the end of the trail fed by another waterfall.
MoreLucifer Falls was recommended by some folks staying at our B&B. And it’s well worth it. It is about about 45 minutes from Geneva. The upper falls parking lot is large. However, we were there at peak foliage and the parking lot was already filling up by 10 AM- so you may want to get there early. The falls are spectacular. Much better than we had expected. We thought it equal to Watkins Glen, without the huge crowds on the trails. We did the hike down to the bottom of the falls and then the stairs back up. It wasn’t a long hike, but be prepared for a lot of stairs back to the top! We went to the lower falls as well. Your parking pass will cover all state parks parking for the day- so I recommend the two mile drive to the lower falls. There is a hike from the upper to the lower falls, but it is 4 miles round trip.
MoreWent to the lower falls swimming area. There are lifeguards and a diving board. The area is fed by the waterfall and is fun to swim in. There are several swimming zones which are roped off: shallow, deep, in between. It was $10 to enter the state park.
MoreAbsolutely beautiful. Loved the swimming holes. We took advice from another and parked at the upper falls did the short hike to Lucifer Falls and it was one of the most amazing views ever. There are some steps but spread out in short bursts and so many places to stop and rest you don't notice them. The view is worth the walk.
