Founded in 1998, Ithaca Beer Co. was established at a time when the city had virtually no breweries. The brewery started off as a humble operation with just a handful of people managing everything, but it has grown steadily to become of the city's favorites. CascaZilla, Flower Power IPA and Excelsior! Brute are some of their brews that have gained statewide as well as national acclaim. Sample these and more of their delicious brews at the Taproom, that's open Wednesday through Sunday. The brewery has a strong sense of community and hosts various beer-related events throughout the year. Brewery tours let you in on its history and the brewing process. Check website for more.

tripadvisorWe have been going to Ithaca Brewery for several years, and to be honest it has always been one of my favorite places to visit. The grounds are beautiful, the staff has always been friendly and the beer and food was incredible. Sadly that appears to have changed. When we arrived at approximately 1:00 pm on a Saturday I was shocked to see how much parking was available in the upper lot. In all the years that we have been coming here I have always found this area parked full and have had to park below. When we went inside we learned that the brewery is now running under new business model, and all of the wait staff have been let go. I don’t mind ordering my food at a counter and having to go back to pick it up when it’s ready, but we will miss the staff that used to come to our table, make personal recommendations on the numerous beers that were available and answer questions about what was going on in Ithaca. Upon reviewing the new menu we were shocked to see that it was reduced by at least half. Many of our favorites were no longer available and it was basically reduced to offerings you could get at a food truck. When the food was ready things didn’t get any better. The pizza was under cooked, the wings that the menu listed as smoked and crispy were rubbery and drenched in sauce that was supposed to buffalo but tasted somewhere between barbecue and another unidentifiable flavor that was far from any Buffalo style sauce I have ever had. Given the fact that I live south of Buffalo I would love to invite whoever came up with this sauce to come to our area of the state to try the wings. In addition we had ordered salads and paid extra to add chicken. The salad itself was not bad, however the chicken breast was also rubbery and looked and tasted like a pre-cooked then frozen piece of meat that had been reheated before being tossed on top of the salads. You might think I am being a bit picky but our bill was over $100.00 for two of us and the only thing we ate was two pieces of the pizza, one wing, and the salads minus the chicken, which took to go. On top of that our beverages only consisted of one beer and one ginger beer. Ordinarily I would have had at least one more beer but the entire atmosphere of the place has changed and we just wanted to leave. I sincerely hope this was just an early season bad day, and that the brewery will get back some what has made them such a stand out location in the past. We will try them again later in the summer but as of now we are very disappointed in what feels like the demise of a premier craft beer experience.
MoreGreat food and beer. Their outside area is huge, including patio and large green area.. but they don’t allow dogs ? Very puzzling since many area restaurants/beer gardens allow dogs on leash.
MoreWe were a party of 15 and they graciously put us back in the rainbow room. We had our own space, which was very nice. The food was delicious and the beer even better! It was the second time in two years that we had visited and when we find ourselves in Ihaca, we'll go again! The waitstaff was excellent, food was hot and plentiful. A gem!
MoreOur first time to taproot, it didn't disappoint. Waited an hour plus on a Saturday night, had flight of beer, Root beer and fry flight as we waited. My favorite was Every Day Haze, great IPA. I did try pumpkin. A solid beer. Had pizza and cheddar ale soup. Soup outstanding. Pizza very good. Good stop for family. Just wish they had tv's.
MoreBest to come early here as there will be a wait. We just happened to get lucky and get indoor seating although the outdoor beer garden is the spot to be in. The staff were very attentive. Nice variety of beers and the flight I had was good. The food is really good and pizza seems to be the most popular item on the menu. We shared the poutine as an appetizer and it is quite a bit, enough to end up taking out, which we did. We both had sandwiches. I had th Vegan Chorizo Burger and my husband had the Cornell Chicken Sandwich. Both were delicious. Children will also be accommodated here.
