Pennsylvania Macaroni Co. is a family-run business located in Pittsburgh's Strip District, where three generations of Sunseri have been serving Steel City dwellers since 1902. Affectionately known just as Penn Mac, the family sells more than a hundred-thousand pounds of cheese a week, from the storefront as well as through its online shop. The shelves are stocked with imported Italian foodstuffs while you will also find some 'Pittsburgh Only' items like Grasso's Sausage, sodas from Natrona Bottling and Iced Tea from Turners. Overall, the store is considered one of the best specialty food shops in the entire city.

tripadvisorAs tourists who live a good Italian market we stopped here with high hopes. The selection is massive- but we were hoping for some more fresh stuffed pepper options- like stuffed banana peppers. But what we bought was consumed quickly and enjoyed. Just was hoping for more!
MoreI was looking for a good sharp cheddar geese . I asked the guy that waited on me and he suggested one that was amazing! He was very knowledgeable and friendly! Thank you for the recommendation of the Barb sharp reserve cheese , I can’t wait to go back and get more !
MoreSuch a fun place ! Nothing like the smell of EVERYTHING Italian greeting you as you walk in the door. Spices , cheese , buckets of fresh olives and pickles , did I say CHEESE ! Fresh bread and don’t forget the fresh Olive Oil that is a serve yourself station ! Definitely a must , if you are on the strip in PA , just make sure you check the hours out for the shops , they don’t stay open super late. We will definitely be going back and can’t wait to make an amazing Italian dinner this week!
MoreWe stopped in for cold cuts and some specialty canned goods. What great selection and a nice place of tradition of Italian goods.
MoreI really like this Strip District grocery store. They have some amazing products that are hard to find and the prices though high reflect our inflation issue as well as high quality. They have amazing spices, meats and cheeses. I was looking at olive oils and pasta. Great selection of olive oils, but pasta was really lacking. They have different shapes and manufactures, but all are wheat pasta. There is nothing made from Spelt, Emmer or Einkorn and those products are made in Italy so they should carry a few. They had none. That was my only disappointment here. The rest was great.
