This sweet little bakery and cafe in Atwater Village has a wholesome, homespun vibe, the kind of spirit that is associated with the warm, fuzzy atmosphere of mom's kitchen. Bringing this very spirit alive was the brainchild of Barbara Monderine, a passionate baker who used inherited recipes and her skills of baking to produce delicious fare at The Village Bakery and Cafe. The cafe opens early for breakfast, with dishes ranging from classic breakfast sandwiches and freshly made pancakes, to various kinds of eggs, and healthy granola. Lunch time features a lovely medley of salads, sandwiches, and soups, while baked goods comprise of scones, muffins, cookies, cakes and rolls.
