tripadvisorThe production was poorly put together. Several of the numbers had nothing at all to do with the theme. Others were overly stylized by the performers. Two well done numbers, Over There and Yankee Doodle Dandy were well done, sung as they should have been without adding expression or dialog. Most others did not measure up. The production went out of their way to make it plain vanilla. No Vietnam, Korea or current issues. The saying and singing of the Pledge of Alegiance by one actor to a screen of children in a dated classroom was just plain weird. Audience members were uncomfortable for not being encouraged to stand and join in. One big glaring failure was the singing of Hallelujah. It didn't fit the theme at all. The actors tried hard. The producer should find a different career.
MoreI saw The Spirit of America show at King's Castle Theatre, and this show is definitely NOT worth going to. I was really looking forward to this show, but was extremely disappointed. The singers were mediocre at best, and for many of the songs it was impossible to understand the words, even if you knew the song! The dancers, however, were very good and it was obvious they put a lot of work and effort into learning the routines and providing a good show. This show was so unimpressive, I left during intermission. If you're visiting Branson, there are much better shows to go to.
MoreI attended the Spirit of America show. I thought the show was overall fine, but one part that really irked me was when they listed the “4 freedoms guaranteed by the constitution”. Firstly, that is incorrect, it is 5. Secondly, they were listed as “freedom of speech, freedom of religion” (which are both correct), then “freedom from want, and freedom from fear” which sounds like it was written by AI. For a show advertising itself as a patriotic experience you would expect them know the 5 freedoms, being: speech, religion, press, assembly, and petition. Also, during the preamble they said “posterity” instead of “prosperity”.
MoreHighly recommend Spirit of America performance at Kings Castle Theater in Branson, MOBest show that I saw on this trip.
MoreThis was the worst show I have been to in Branson. Dancing was sub par. Everyone seemed robotic in their actions and singing. I really disliked all the dancing.
