The Eichelberger Performing Arts Center Theater ·$$

Constructed in 1896, the Eichelberger Performing Arts Center began its life as the Eichelberg Academy. The monumental building was constructed at the behest of Abdiel W. Eichelberger to serve as an educational resource, first for the academy and later for the public education system. When new rules deemed the building unfit for use as a school, it was transformed into the vibrant performing arts center that it is today. The Eichelberger Performing Arts Center offers a varied program of concerts, theatrical performances, and other cultural programs, as well as educational programs for adults and youth. The performing arts center is a well-equipped and atmospheric venue indeed, housed as it is within a building that has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Although no longer a school, the Eichelberger Performing Arts Center honors the legacy of its namesake by enriching the lives of its patrons through the performing arts.

My son did a summer camp here and they were amazing! Staff were friendly, supportive and knew what they were doing. I look forward to attending more events.

I came to Hanover from NC for the sole purpose of seeing the Harry Chapin Band (which was a great experience in itself), and discovered a great local theater. If I lived near by, I would certainly patronize the Eichelberger Performing Arts Center on a regular basis. It appears as if they have a good line up of future performances. Easy access with good parking and fairly comfortable seats. Simply a local treasure.

As a child going to High Street School in Hanover one of the things I remember was when we walked from High Street School to Eichelberger High School to see the Marinette show Pandora's Box. The auditorium was a huge space to a child, then as a Senior in High School at South Western I went to see the Miss Hanover Pagent and was more in awe of the beauty of the auditorium. When Hanover built their new Hanover High School the fate of the old beautiful building was uncertain. That old building has been transformed into a Performing Arts Center where the Dance studios hold their recitals and where famous groups perform, a place to love and enjoy. Give it a try I know you will love it.
