tripadvisorI’ve waited 9 years to return to enjoy this hotel. We booked the whole hotel for my son’s wedding in 2017 but I was too busy to enjoy it. This trip, it did not disappoint. The hotel is a unique boutique hotel. I was very familiar with all the different rooms so I picked my favorite…509…with the exposed brick wall, fireplace and balcony with a lovely view of the bridge which is lit in the evenings. Don’t expect the balcony to be peacefully quiet because it’s not because of roadway noise, but the room was very quiet and lovely. I booked another room for a sister-in-law traveling with us and it had a sitting area with a couch and dining room table and chairs - perfect for our after dinner card playing. Beds were very comfortable with modern bedding. Rooms were very clean. Check-in was a breeze. Very walkable to Independence Mall tourist attractions and coveted cheesesteaks! Very affordable as well (and in 2017 we got some awesome pre-wedding photos from the balconies and exposed brick walls. ). Would definitely stay there again.
MoreIt is an lovely old style hotel and not your standard chain hotel. It's in a good spot for history addicts as its within walking distances of museums and historic landmarks. Our room on 2nd floor had constant traffic noise from a busy freeway. The following morning we asked for a change to a quieter room and the manager happily moved us to the 5th floor with a lower noise level but you could still hear the traffic. Both rooms were cosy and clean. The coffee and muffins provided for breakfast were a great way to start the day. We had two meals in the in-house restaurant, Panorama, which has an great choice of menu, and both were excellent. We really enjoyed our stay.
MoreThe hotel didn't quite live up to our expectations. We booked a Bridge View room and got a second-floor room where the window looked directly into a parking lot and steel girder on the bridge. No view at all. Noise level of the traffic was noticeable. There were no curtains (blackout or other) on the windows - just blinds that let in a lot of light, including street lights at night. The room was clean, bed was comfortable, furnishings adequate, and bathroom was good. Check-in was lengthy and the staff was unenthusiastic. The location was great for walking to all the Philly historic sites and museums. Be advised: there is a parking lot right next to the hotel (separately owned and managed). We intended to park there, but learned you have to leave your keys with the attendant. Since we had some items of value in the car, we did not want to do that. There is another parking lot 1 block away that does not require leaving your key.
MoreNice location...some freeway noise. Excellent room...no view. Fair value. The in-house restaurant, Panorama, gets 6 stars. I cannot recommend it highly enough!
MoreThis is a very charming this hotel hotel that truly takes you back in time. The hotel is exceptionally clean, the staff is wonderful, and the location is perfect. Best of all, it has an incredible restaurant with an amazing happy hour! I ended up having dinner there two of the three nights I stayed—and honestly, I wish I had eaten there all three nights. The complimentary coffee and muffins in the morning are such a nice touch, and coming back after a long day of sightseeing to refreshing lemon water in the afternoon was especially appreciated. These little extras really make you feel welcomed and cared for.The hotel is also located in a very safe neighborhood and is within walking distance of many important historical sites and sightseeing attractions. Overall, it was a wonderful place to stay, and I would definitely stay here again!
