I have been to 7 shows at the Golden State Theater over the last year and a half, most recently last night. It's a beautiful venue, the seats are very comfortable, and there are great restaurants within walking distance.I am 71 years old and have been to hundreds of concerts at many different venues over the years. I would say that the sound system, mixing, and acoustics in the GST are the absolute worst that I have ever encountered. I have sat in several different sections of the theater, trying to find a place where the sound isn't overmodulated and the vocals aren't garbled. I have yet to find that place. Some are worse than others, but wherever I've sat, the sound has been absolutely horrible. Unfortunately, I can no longer justify paying top dollar to see great musicians at the GST because of the sound system, mixing, and acoustics. Hopefully, the owners of the GST will use some of their profits to eliminate the problem. If they do so, I hope they announce the improvement publicly so that people, including me, who have stopped going to concerts at the GST can enjoy great music in this beautiful venue.

Went to see two shows at this historic old theater. Interior is interesting in the design - like an old fort with fake balcony windows and the stage as a large portal. Very good acoustics for music or a comedy show. Seats are well spaced and remarkably comfortable. Located about a 1 mile walk (mostly along the waterfront) from Cannery Row.

What a huge disappointment!! Went to JBoog performance and the acoustics were a travesty! Such a disservice to the performers who are so talented. The “No Smoking No Exceptions” sign is also pretty hilarious.
