Reviews
tripadvisorWe stayed a couple of nights here while visiting the local attractions. This small hotel is really well located, just a couple of minutes from both the Brandywine museum and battlefield. It is clean, quiet, and comfortable. It’s also a very good value ( we had received a reasonable rate) with a simple continental breakfast included. The only issue we had was there was no heat yet, and I don’t know when it turns on for the season. We were provided with a small but powerful ceramic heater, which was too loud to use all night. It worked well enough being run for about five hours before the fan sound just disturbed our sleep too much so we had to shut it off. I would ask the hotel about whether its heated yet or not, as the nights here are too cold now to be in a room without heating.
MoreWe recently stayed in the honeymoon suite. While we truly enjoyed our stay thanks to the outstanding service, we want to alert future travelers to serious accessibility issues. Todd was incredibly welcoming, helpful, and accommodating—even mailing back forgotten personal items of sentimental value. The room was beautifully decorated with rose petals and towel swans, and the hotel's central location was exceptionally convenient for visiting local attractions, including Longwood Gardens. The room was reasonably priced and cleaned fairly well. The property was nicely secluded and quietly tucked behind some quaint shops and restaurants. However, we specifically chose the honeymoon suite because it was advertised online with amenities such as wheelchair accessible, a toilet grab bar, a low-height counter and sink, and a raised toilet seat. Unfortunately, none of these features were present. While seated in my wheelchair, I could barely wash my hands because the sink was too high, and the mirror was completely out of view above my head. I had to use a portable makeup mirror at the bedroom writing desk instead. Furthermore, there was no grab bar near the toilet, and the angled layout of the bedroom made it very difficult to navigate past the door into the bathroom. For a guest with mobility limitations, these missing features are frustrating and make the activities of daily life incredibly difficult. While the hotel's weathered charm adds character, updating the accessibility features is necessary—especially when explicitly advertised. There is so much to love here, including the excellent team. We plan to visit the area again and would gladly consider staying there because of the wonderful staff. However, a comfortable return depends on making these critical accessibility updates. To that end, we requested a response from management detailing how these discrepancies could be addressed, and we hope our observations provided a constructive basis for these essential improvements. We will update this review if and when we hear back from the management team.
MoreWonderful stay! The location is fantastic and very convenient to local attractions, including Longwood Gardens. Our room was clean, cozy, and comfortable, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. Everything was pleasant and relaxing. We would definitely stay here again!
MoreStayed here because it's right next to the famous battlefield, which I was checking out. They have one of those e-checkins, which worked OK. The room was very clean although starting to show signs of age. The bed was firm but comfy and had lots of decent pillows. The breakfast buffet, which some raved about, was just a typical cold self serve like you get at Best Western. Seems a popular place so book ahead.
MoreThe space was fine--nice King bed, good wifi access, great tub. But the AC was set to a permanent temperature that left us fanning ourselves most of the night. The breakfast was a bit pitiful. Fruit that had mold on it. Sparse collection of breakfast items. No hot water. We had to microwave our tea and oatmeal--just not up to the norm here. Location was great, thankfully.
