This building has since been turned into a high school but the exterior is still the same. You can take tours of the building but you may want to call in advance. I graduated in 2015 and the school is making sure to keep the history alive and well-kept.

I attended a wedding here, I wasn't very impressed with the space, did not like the lay out, could have been the bride's fault though

I'm so glad this place was preserved. It sat empty for many years, before the 1982 World's Fair. It was then restored, including many of the gorgeous stained-glass windows. All of the fixtures are simply incredible and you can get a sense of the excitement of rail travel when you are in or close to the building. I wish they still had restaurants here, but I am thankful that the building is in use as a high school and hope that the inhabitants enjoy it's beauty and grandeur as much as I do. Way to go, Knoxville, for doing something right for preservation.

Knoxville became an important railroad terminus when this passenger station was opened in 1905 giving routes in and out of the city by two railroads who were in keen competition. This station was a true terminal where the trains backed into the station. It was extensively refurbished for the 1982 Worlds Fair. Many old locals have fond memories of trips that began from this station. Since it is currently used as a magnet school, no access to the grounds is permitted. Plan to observe the exterior from across the street.
