The idea for the Park of Roses was conceived in 1951 when members of two different rose clubs teamed up to share their love for roses with the rest of Ohio. The Park opened in June 1953 and continues to host the Columbus Rose Festival every June. There are 12,000 rose bushes in the park of 400 varieties, as well as other specialized gardens such as the herb garden, perennial garden, and daffodil garden, which houses more than 1,000 varieties of daffodils! Admission to the park is free, and it is open every day sunrise to sunset.

tripadvisorSolid park with plenty of beauty to it.
MoreA very beautiful, huge and very well maintained park with a very lovely rose garden.Definitely worth spending an evening preferably around/ after sunset.
MoreGood trip. We arrived at approximately 5:30 pm and made our way towards the entrance of the park. The park consisted of a walkway that made a loop around the garden. We were able to take our time and enjoy the roses and flowers in the park. The roses were in full bloom and we were able to admire their vibrant colors. Tip: I recommend spending 45 minutes here if you truly want to see everything.
MoreI was fortunate to grow up merely a block from Whetstone Park decades ago and enjoyed the Park of Roses regularly. When I visit Columbus these days I always make a point of strolling through it, even though I'm rarely in town when the flowers are blooming. It's a beautifully-designed, tranquil, world renowned garden nestled within a gorgeous, large municipal park bordering the Olentangy River. A true American, let alone Columbus, treasure.
MoreTook a stroll this morning. It appeared there will be a wedding there today. Absolutely beautiful garden. Easy parking and safe. Lovely! I love the donated plant signs!
