In this deceptively tiny shop tucked on a side street near DC's iconic Eastern Market, patrons have been known to spend hours browsing an extensive collection of used books. It is an old house converted into a bookstore, which holds more paper than one could ever imagine. The two levels of this place are covered floor to ceiling with secondhand books on literature, history, poetry, and more. Somehow the owner knows exactly where everything is and is always happy to help his customers in their book hunt here. Still, if you can't find a book of your choice, you can pick up a free book from one of the boxes kept outside this lovely bookstore.

tripadvisorThis is a great place to visit if you are looking for all sorts of books. It is in the Eastern Market neighborhood and right near the Eastern Market Metro Stop. There are 3 stories of wall to wall books and very reasonably priced.
MoreThis bookstore is on my list of must-visit places in DC. it was one of the first places I visited when I finally got to return to DC post-quarantine, and it did not disappoint. Leave yourself plenty of time to browse the three levels and stacks of book.
MoreThis store is packed full of books on all subjects. The 2nd floor fiction collection is huge. Be sure to give yourself time to explore. This is not a bookstore you want to visit if you are in a hurry.
MoreGreat used books shop on the SE side of Capitol Hill. Two floors of an old home packed with books. A bit of organized chaos, but that is the charm of this place. Go in and see what crosses your path on the shelves. To get there, you can take the metro, but even better is a stroll from the US Congress on Capitol Hill through one of the oldest neighborhoods of DC with some nice small charming houses lining C Street. Definitely worth a visit if you like (used) books.
MoreWhat a very unique place, surprisingly they have a method to there madness. I believe you would enjoy yourself more, if you came in looking for a specific book or author.
