tripadvisorThis Club is sandwiched between the White House and George Washington University. It is a private club but open to the public during certain hours. The historic building is worth the visit and you can visit certain rooms that have art hanging on the walls. You can also use the facilities for events. If you enjoy art and a quiet atmosphere this is a very nice venue.
MoreOn a visit to Monroe Park, I noticed a red-brick building across the street. The building was identified as the former home of President James Monroe and is now the location of the Arts Club of Washington. Ringing the doorbell for admission, I was able to see much of the Monroe residence, along with several rooms of paintings in the adjoining house. Not spectacular, but the self-guided tour gives a good sense of the president's home in the early 19th century.
