tripadvisorOne does not put Madison and Opera into the same sentence - most think of Madison and sports, but the opera does great shows with top performers and excellent production values.
MoreI have only visited once for my first and only opera which was The Barber of Seville. Seat were comfortable but a little cramped, view from my seat was excellent. Great view of orchestra pit, stage and subtitle board. I will go again and recommend the experience.
MoreFree event! Outdoor natural bowl in a beautiful park, fantastic international Opera performers, accompanied by the Madison Symphony under Maestro John DeMain. Bring your beach chairs, blankets, picnics...all free. A fantastic event under the stars!
MoreOk, have never thought opera was my cup of tea, but I was familiar with Sweeney Todd from the movie, so thought I would see what the production was like. In general, production was good, set was good, music and so on good. General decor of facility was absolute eye candy. Seating was pretty cramped though. As the production went 3+ hours including seating and intermission, I would advise attendee's to make full use of intermission as your legs will likely take a nap. Overall, fun and enjoyable and I will return.
MoreThis event was held at Garner Park. It is an annual event in July that we happened upon while reviewing the website. If you have a chance, I would highly recommend seeing the opera in this relaxed format. Pack a picnic and bring along your favorite beverage. It was one of the highlights of our vacation. I hope to return next year.
