MoreWhile residing in Silver Spring, Maryland in the 1970's, this was our favorite Mall. I was extremely surprised by the changes I noted - more shops, restaurants, etc. during my recent visit. Noted Costco and Target here, my two favorite stores. There are more traffics, more commercial buildings, condominiums, etc. around its periphery. The Wheaton Metro Station is located near by. Will definitely shop here again!
MoreWe decided to try a different area so we visited the Wheaton mall. My sons actually prefer this mall! They like the atmosphere and the many stores to choose from.
MoreFormerly Wheaton Plaza, this mall has actually gotten better over the years: covered instead of open air, expanded food options (no longer just a rag-tag food court only, there are a few restaurant options sprinkled around the perimeter), a Costco and Target. The movie theater is pathetic. The retail stores neither luxury nor discount, just plain vanilla. Still, if you need to buy something at a mall (something I look forward to like a root canal or taxes), you could do worse.
MoreI've been coming to Westfield Wheaton (formerly Wheaton Plaza) since the early 70's. Back then it was open air. Then, they put a roof over it. The anchor department stores have undergone multiple changes over the decades with Target and Macy's the current incumbents, although Costco, a fairly recent arrival, gives everyone a run for their money. The food options have gotten more varied and interesting over the years; the shops have changed with the times. And the mall itself, which used to feel out-classed by the likes of White Flint. But White Flint died ingloriously, and Westfield Wheaton is still ticking along.
