The Office of the Commissioner of Revenue serves the residents and businesses of Arlington County, Va., and provides tax assessment services for real estate properties. The revenue commissioner administers business license and custodial taxes, such as restaurant, short-term rental and transient occupancy taxes. The commissioner also assists taxpayers with their state income tax returns. Its business tax division assesses business privilege taxes, sets up new business license accounts and monitors changes of a business and its environment. The office s compliance division assures that all properties located within the county and the taxes are assessed. Its vehicle personal property tax division assesses various vehicles, including cars, trucks, buses, motorcycles, boats, aircraft and motor homes.
