Hotel Monaco's vibrant interiors and contemporary design scheme are in delightfully sharp contrast to the regal facade of the Lafayette Building it occupies. Bold colors, quirky decor elements and a blend of vintage and modern furniture make the hotel's design, an intriguing prospect. Guest rooms retain the building's stellar original features, but also have striking wall murals and wallpapers to reflect the hotel's modern sensibilities. Guests can savor delectable modern specialties at the atmospheric Red Owl Tavern. Take in beautiful views of the historic neighborhood with a stellar array of spirits for company at the Stratus Rooftop Lounge. Business guests will appreciate the diverse meeting and conference facilities. There's an equipped fitness center to ensure that you never miss your workout. For some pampering, the hotel also offers a selection of spa treatments in the comfort of your room. Check website for bookings and more.

tripadvisorFirst stay here since the renovation - and as with my prior stays, I love the location and the historical nature of both the building itself and the whole neighborhood. The rooms have had a major change in appearance with the renovation, and I think it will be more broadly appealing, yet it is also not as unique as the prior decor. The color palate is more muted, however quite classy, and there is less going on with the wallpaper. The televisions are bigger and the big bright red dresser/stands are gone. Thankfully the high quality Waterworks fixtures are still in the bathrooms, and they have upgraded the bath mats - at least in the corner spa rooms. Something very elegant about a crisp white cushy bath mat! The view towards the park and the bell tower is fantastic, and I personally enjoy hearing the clock chiming on the hour. The Red Owl Tavern offers solid fare and drinks - and there are dozens of options for eating and drinking within a few blocks too. The new carpet smell was very strong - however I would think this will fade quickly as the weeks go by from the renovation. Overall, the Monaco remains a great choice for Philadelphia, especially if you seek proximity to the historic area! The photos on the hotel's website are accurate - check out their website to see the new decor.
MoreThe first person very helpful to me and my family was Sage. He was immediately helpful throughout my stay. Tracey was the second person that went above and beyond to make us comfortable and provided accommodations to help me feel better about my experience. The decor is beautiful and it’s very clean here. I wish the gym was bigger and parking wasn’t so pricey but overall we had a good stay.
MoreWhat a BEAUTIFUL hotel! Sage met me curbside with a big smile and assisted with my luggage. He has such a wonderful and cheerful personality which was much appreciated after my exhausting trip. What excellent service he provided. The top notch service continued during check-in. I was greeted with warm and friendly smiles, and the check-in process took less than 3 minutes! What a great first impression!
MoreGreat visit to Philly! Consuela at reception was very sweet and gave us a beautiful room overlooking Independence Hall. Sage, the bellman was so helpful getting us up to our room and settled. Room was clean and nicely designed. Definitely recommend this hotel!
