I called Henrico taxi and they told me they would call me back.. They never called back. I called another taxi service, don't remember the name. Phone number was 804-222-6666. The guy was almost rude and said he didn't want to run the call. I called Veterans Taxi at 5:00 am. They had a taxi at the Amtrak station within 30 minutes. The driver Chris couldn't have been nicer. He helped me with my luggage and got me home. Veterans will get all my future business.

Richmond, VA, September 11, 2018. My wife and I have dropped off the Enterprise rental car, and we're sitting in a Wendy's ... killing time before calling a cab that will take us to the Amtrak station. Without warning, the heavens open. Rain, in sheets. Hit the phone: the forecast says this will endure for a while. The time to call a cab is now. Hit the phone again, start calling cab companies. Some roll over to answering machines, some are out of business, some say they're overwhelmed, can we wait two hours. Veterans' Cab answers on the second ring. A driver's not too far away, he'll be on his way. He is: he calls to confirm. This is Joe. He's your textbook grizzled veteran. He gets wet loading our bags, but makes sure we're dry getting in. Joe makes conversation on the way ... lots of interesting things to say. He doesn't try to be a comedian, but his conversation is alive with insight and wit. Makes for a great ride. We were actually sorry to see him go. Call Veterans' Cab when you need a ride. Ask for Joe. He's cool. (Smokes, though.)
