I love going to Smith Mountain Lake! I try to go yearly with friends for The Virginia Dare Cruise. I can’t wait to go again this year in the fall for the foliage.

This is a big lake so depending on where you stay or where you take your boat, it could be quite busy or peaceful. We fished for striper and caught the limit (2 per person). There is a lot of boat traffic and seadoos pretty much starting at 10am and going until dark on the one side (south of 122). But if you go on the other side of 122 past the bride it's a bit narrower and quieter the further you go. So it depends what you're looking for. It has something for everyone. There are restaurants on the lake that you can access by boat.

This lake is beautiful and extensive. The water is clear and clean and the mountains beautiful. Lots of birdlife and beautiful sunsets. We loved it here.

We stayed here on the North Shore and loved the view of the lake from our condo. The mountains behind the lake add to the overall effect.
