I wish I had known about this tremendous Twin Cities art destination earlier. The Northrup King building is a hidden gem that houses over 200 artists in a remodeled seed factory that still retains much of its historic charm. My wife and I went there for the Thursday night open house (also occurs on Saturdays). We had a great time walking through the 4 floors of the building, stopping by the open studios, viewing the latest art exhibits and speaking with the artists about their work. It is a fun, casual atmosphere where you get to see the artists and their work in their own studios. We love the local art fairs in the twin cities, but felt this was even better due the quality and number of the artists all in one location. If you are looking for a great date night experience or just something fun to do on a Thursday evening or Saturday afternoon, I highly recommend stopping by the Northrup King building.

Northrup King built this place in 1917 and is located at the junction of two railroads. It was their company headquarters until they moved out of in 1986. The building is over 100 years old and now has over 250 artists and various small businesses. It is open the first Thursday of every month from 5-9:00 pm. As a past employee of Northrup King, it was fun to go inside and see how this building has been repurposed. This is a wonderful way to keep an important part of Minneapolis history.

This place has everything for you with over 350 artists that includes paintings, drawings, apparel, furniture, jewelry and much much more. Not all galleries or shops are open except when there is a special event going on. Be real sure to look up to see when they are having events and what may be going on at each one. They do have at least two big events each years. Some Saturdays not too many galleries are open. It's a fun place to visit with lots to see. Artists and gallery owners or operators are very friendly and informative about them merchandise. Three floors, wear going walking shoes, not many places to sit and rest.

My Sister in Law has a new display place here in this building. It is a artist haven. Many wonderful different types of art on display with the artists there to help you. Unique place to visit.
