Lake Brandt Marina Hiking Trail

Lake Brandt is a reservoir located north of the city center and was named after Leon Brandt, who was Greensboro's mayor from 1907-1908. Visitors can rent rowboats, kayaks and canoes, and if you want to bring your own vessel you can launch it at one of the three ramps around the perimeter of the lake. Fishers will be able to catch catfish and bass.

We really enjoyed our walk on the Nathaniel Greene trail--well-marked, in lovely woods and the lake. Heron, egret, ducks. We hope to get back to rent kayaks. We felt it was a real find.

Not busy at all on a Monday morning. Beautiful foliage around the lake. Good solid workout will some decent hills. Combination of asphalt and hiking trail. Stretch along Lake Brandt Rd was pretty busy with cars. Otherwise, it was awesome! I added a little extra A&Y Greenway to get to 13.1 miles.

Especially during the pandemic, this area has served as a “headquarters” for many healthy and beneficial activities. For hikers, it is a trailhead for Nat Greene and Wild Turkey trails ( Wild Turkey is also a nice bike trail). Just across the street is also lovely Laurel Bluff Trail, and across the dam/ bridge are Piedmont and Reedy Fork Trails. Walking around the lake is only about 8.2 miles. Of course, fishing and boating available here too. Families, complying with CoVid guidelines, are also loving this facility. There are about 100 miles of trails out this way ... what a community asset. It’s free!

Always a fun time. The facilities are a bit run down, but the lake is gorgeous and there is plenty of wildlife to gawk at.

I love to kayak on Lake Brandt. The lake is usually quiet, with minimal motor boat activity, and perfect for kayaking in the coves. Great blue herons, egrets, and turtles are always there. Lots of folks just come and enjoy the shore for a little rest and a pretty view also. Stand up paddle boards and canoes are also there for rent.
