tripadvisorDaughter lives on Lake Lynn so we spent our first night in Raleigh walking around the entire lake - the wildlife is just amazing. Saw MANY turtles, snakes, caterpillars, butterflies, deer, and birds galore. Bring your bug spray since much of the walk (all board walk or nicely paved sections) are in a wooded area.
MoreThis is a nice local park with extensive board walks through birding areas around the lake. The only downside is that there is a lot of badly needed refurbishment in progress as of our visit.
MoreNice level walk around the lak with some shaded parts - tree felling was underway during our visit so check if you want to walk the whole loop
MoreThis is roughly a 2.25 loop around Lake Lynn that is usually not too crowded if you avoid peak times on the weekends. People are generally pretty good about picking up after their dogs here and keeping them on a leash. Lots of bird watchers early in the mornings I have noticed lately, so if that’s something you’re into this apparently is a good spot for that.
MoreBeautiful for walking. Lots of bridges and some sun and shade and plenty of wildlife. Been going here for years and have always found it enjoyable. It is 2-1/4 miles around the Lake and so much beautiful scenery to see. I recommend it highly for nature lovers and families to enjoy.
