Gorgeous facade detail rendered in stone caught out attention to begin with. It provides a lovely introduction to the gallery contents. It was interesting to learn that the gallery was founded with a bequest from Welton Stanford, the younger brother of Leland, the university's founder. We enjoyed moving amongst the art works and seeing some striking creations.

Visiting family nearby during Spring Break so we stopped by to see the Gates of Hell and the Thinker but we were entranced by the driftwood horse and the history of the art gallery. A beautiful space.

This is a nice building on the outside, befitting a university of Stanford's caliber. However, it is currently closed. There are no signs indicating when it will reopen, and the website indicates no future exhibits are yet scheduled.

Wonderfully intimate space, a welcome time out from the bustle of the campus life. I walked in to witness a visitor dancing in the light, observing the effect of her movements on the art piece displayed above. On exhibit, works by a Stanford art professor that invited play and thought provoking interaction with captured light and space. Well worth a visit!

This is a great way to spend a little time if you are on the Stanford campus. They have quite a nice collection and it is not too big. Also, the building is really very lovely.
