Our patients are runners. Road runners, trail runners, people training for marathons, destination races, and hiking trips where the whole point is staying on their feet with their friends. They are in their 40s and 50s, they have been running their whole lives, and something has started breaking down in a way they cannot train through anymore. The conditions we see most are plantar fasciitis and heel pain that flares the first mile of every run, hip impingement and groin strains that creep in as the miles climb, knee pain, IT band issues, SI joint and sciatica problems, and low back pain that comes back every time training picks up. Most of our runners have already stretched, rested, and sat in an office where someone told them to take six weeks off. Nothing changed. That is because treating the spot that hurts is not the same as finding out why it keeps happening. We look at the whole picture. How you move, how you train, what your body is compensating for, and what actually has to change for this to stop coming back. Then we build a plan around your race calendar and the trips you have coming up, not around pausing them. If you are a runner in Costa Mesa or Orange County who is tired of managing something that should have been fixed by now, this is where runners like you end up.
