Centered on Hertel Avenue and running between Main and Elmwood with the Kenmore village line to the north, this neighborhood is a mix of residential areas and the Hertel Avenue business strip. This one-mile stretch includes everything from cafes to antique shops, unusual gift boutiques and ethnic restaurants such as Ristorante Lombardo. The avenue is also home ground for the annual Western New York Italian Heritage and Food Festival, a street party extravaganza that attracts more than one million revelers in July. The neighborhood features the North Park Theatre, Buffalo's best-known cinema for independent films.

Reviews
tripadvisorPassing through Buffalo to points east, we stopped on Hertel Ave to enjoy the Buffalo-themed murals. And they are stunning! Happy to see not one, but two Bunnie Reiss murals. Loved the Mark Twain and John T Lewis mural. And more! And then there are the restaurants. We lunched at Lloyd Taco Factory and enjoyed a thoroughly unique New School Mexican lunch. Definitely would recommend a stop here to stroll a few blocks to enjoy the scenery, do a little shopping, and have a meal.
MoreLoved the buzz of the bars and restaurants on Hertel Avenue. Ate and drank in a few of them. Nice way to spend a bit of time people watching and watching the world go by. We'll be back!
MoreAfter years of decline, Hertel Avenue has become a go to place for dining. I especially recommend CRAVing restaurant.
MoreLoved supported the neighborhood... lots of fun shops to peek in, interesting restaurants, the best bookstore in Buffalo. We stop by every time we are in Buffalo. Fun area to explore.
MoreAt the urging of my daughter, who works at Revolver Records on Hertel, we took in the sites on a Friday nite. It's called Shop,Rock and Stroll and they put it on once a month on a Friday nite. Every shop was open. Most had some form of entertainment be it bands, dancers, jugglers. Very busy area. You need to take plenty of time as there's lots to see and do. Many varieties of food to choose from so get there early and hungry. That's the best advice I can give is to indeed get there early. Parking IS at a premium. We had to park on a side street several blocks away.
