an out-of-the way long drive on Long Island which will kill an afternoon - you have to travel through side streets w/strict speed limits to get there- DO NOT SPEED - the whole drive is a speed trap - once here you are rewarded w/a scenic view of the Long Island Sound & Connecticut in the background *** while here, try to find the LANDMARK EGG from the EGG HUNT 2024: LONG ISLAND puzzle book as this is one of the locations used in the book - it took us a while to find this one

Nothing special, nice drive through a rich Long Island town. Very disappointed with the light house. not worth it.

Built in 1868 and still standing strong, the lighthouse, unfortunately, offers only an exterior and quick viewing as it is now the Village Clerk's Office and Village Hall (closed due to COVID-10). Still, the view of the LI Sound is gorgeous, you might get lucky and see the bright, white Bridgeport-Port Jeff ferry cutting across the water nearby, there are old buoys attached to a weed-covered fence next to the Lighthouse, and if you are motivated, it is, and was for us, a good, muscle-burning bike ride from Stony Brook Harbor to the south up to the lighthouse.

Quick stop to see the views and look at structure and grounds. Cloudy day and working village clerk so did not go in. No where to picnic that I saw

I was married there in 1987, the first couple ever to do so. We were limited to 10 guests but did have a larger reception nearby later. The views of Connecticut from the lighthouse alone are worth a visit. Check to see when it is open.
