This park is nice and the riverwalk is slowly being lengthened. There are some interesting statues on the bridge between East Hartford and Hartford and the riverwalk is pleasant. I am hoping they expand it to the old town of Weathersfield in the future to connect 2 interesting areas.

We were on a road trip and looking for a nice spot to eat lunch and stretch our legs, and found it here. There is a free parking lot, a small playground, and some benches (although they weren't in the shade). We enjoyed walking on the path down by the river. There were a couple port-a-potties at the end of the park (opposite side from the playground). This was a nice little stopover, and we had it ourselves on a weekday afternoon.

Stroll along the path alongside the CT river, picnic. Fishing; no swimming. Free parking on-site. Near the Blue-0nion-domed Colt Building.

Usually people come to the landing to launch their own boat in the river or take a boat tour of the river along the banks. There is more to the park than the dock. It is a great spot for fishing, playing with your dog, taking a jog or walk or enjoying a picnic lunch. There is also a kid's playground and a little building to come in from the sun. There are benches along the trails where you can sit, relax, feed the birds or just watch the river waters go by.
