Reviews
tripadvisorI don’t typically write reviews for businesses, but after my two pre-booked appointments at Blush Boutique & Spa, I felt compelled to share my holistic experience. At first glance, Blush Boutique & Spa is a beautifully designed space connected to an exceptional hotel. Their website is organized and provides clear, detailed descriptions of the services offered, including pricing—a detail that many spas neglect. The spa boasts impressive amenities, including steam rooms in both the men’s and women’s locker rooms, multiple showers, and a variety of “bells and whistles.” The relaxation area offers water, teas, snacks, and other small comforts. However, the relaxation area exudes more of an “enhanced breakroom” vibe, with “HomeGoods”-style organization tools and artificial plants. While this may feel relaxing to some, the kitchenette-like setting detracts from the ambiance. Given that the spa is in the lower level of a downtown hotel, I can understand the space limitations. What stood out initially was the manager, Daniela. She was lovely, personable, and kind, greeting me with a smile on both occasions. Daniela handled check-ins and register duties with patience and clarity, embodying a welcoming and genuine spirit. Her authenticity and kindness clearly shone through her interactions.Unfortunately, my qualms lie with the spa’s money-gouging practices, seemingly spearheaded by the founder, Jennifer, who also serves as an esthetician. While Daniela made efforts to facilitate solutions on behalf of the spa’s image, Jennifer’s conduct left me nauseated.During my first visit, I received a Deep Tissue Massage with a Cupping Therapy add-on. The massage therapist was friendly, kind, and capable, leaving me feeling refreshed. However, I couldn’t help but notice her low morale. Before entering the room, she remarked to a coworker, “Alright, let’s do this,” which could easily be interpreted as viewing my massage as a chore. I chose not to overanalyze the comment, as such moments are part of being human. In hindsight, after my second experience, this moment felt more significant. It seemed indicative of an underlying culture, potentially tied to how the staff is treated. My second appointment was originally scheduled for a Dermapen Treatment with a Dermaplane add-on. I arrived 20 minutes early, enjoyed the steam room, and prepared for the facial by washing my face.Jennifer soon called me into the treatment room, where we briefly discussed my skin concerns. While she initially listened, her demeanor carried a disingenuous energy. Jennifer decided not to proceed with the Dermapen Treatment due to active acne on my face. While I respected her professional judgment, I was frustrated to learn that she typically requires a prior consultation for this treatment—a policy that was not communicated when I booked.Instead, Jennifer opted for a “Blush Custom Organic Facial” without clearly explaining this change. She informed me that the Dermaplane add-on would remain part of the session and suggested an enzymatic peel for an additional $25. I agreed to the peel.During the treatment, we exchanged light conversation about skincare and shared interests. However, when I asked a question about her move to El Paso, her tone suddenly shifted. She interrupted me mid-sentence, snapping out an answer in frustration. The room fell silent, and I apologized, sensing I had upset her. Jennifer dismissed my apology, claiming it was fine, but the palpable tension suggested otherwise. After the enzyme peel, she placed a blue light device over my face and told me she’d return in 30 minutes. I later learned this was another $35 “add-on,” which had not been disclosed upfront. As I sat under the blue light, I regretted not leaving then and there, as the experience continued to deteriorate. When Jennifer returned, her tone and attitude had dramatically shifted to an overly saccharine demeanor, leaving me questioning the authenticity of the entire encounter. The treatment concluded with minimal pore extractions and a moisturizer application. At checkout, I was shocked to see charges for the blue light $35, and a $125 fee for the “Blush Custom Organic Facial,” on top of everything else. This charge baffled me, as the facial included nothing beyond the add-ons I had already paid for, apart from the 3-4 pore extractions.Per the website, the “Blush Custom Organic Facial” includes a deep cleanse, exfoliation, extractions, multiple masques, specialized serum application, moisturizer, SPF, and a head-to-toe massage using organic products. I received none of this, aside from the few extractions and moisturizer application. The enzyme peel, which should have been included in the facial, was charged as an add-on, as was the blue light. When I called to dispute the charges, the front desk staff relayed my concerns to Jennifer. She agreed to refund $60 for the extractions, but this failed to address the core issue of being overcharged for a service I didn’t request or receive. In summary, I came to Blush Boutique & Spa seeking relaxation and left feeling financially scammed and emotionally drained. Jennifer’s passive-aggressive behavior during the treatment, coupled with her lack of transparency about pricing, made for an unpleasant and unprofessional experience.I hope others find this review helpful in avoiding the same frustrations. While Daniela and other staff members may bring positive energy to the spa, I cannot recommend receiving a facial from Jennifer. My time, energy, and money were wasted so that yours don’t have to be.Best of luck with your experience at Blush Boutique & Spa!
MoreMy husband booked so much spa appointments for me here what a huge waste of money. The front desk lady was so unkind. Worst massage I ever experienced the man gave no pressure. It felt like he used his pinky pressure the entire massage. He completely didn’t know what he was doing. I felt nothing maybe a slight burning sensation from the essential oils. When I tried to pay out complain the front desk lady made me feel small said I was booked for a Swedish massage I should’ve booked deep tissue. I was trying to tell her that i felt absolutely nothing from this massage that’s not normal.
MoreThis spa is below average. Massage was very disappointing, no pressure at all despite asking the therapist to increase pressure several times. At times, I felt he had no idea what he was doing.Ladies at reception are a bit rude and do not make you feel welcomed. Will not be coming back.
MoreI used to absolutely love Blush and I would go since they were located on Montana. However, the gift card policy I have a huge issue with. My husband got me a gift card for our anniversary a while back, but I got COVID pretty severely. I was in the hospital for an extremely long time and physical therapy because of the séquela that covid left me with. The gift card was a lot of money and I only ever got to use it once before I got sick and still had around $200 on it. It’s in the system how much money it had so I don’t know why it would expire especially when it’s already been paid for. I contemplated writing this review for months just because like I said blush really is a great spa. However I personally have not supported it since this incident and never will anymore.
MoreMy service for my facial and my waxing was amazing done by Jennifer. I have schedule a follow up appointment.
