Reviews
tripadvisorWorst hotel experience in decades. When you have to drive behind a Lowe’s hardware store to get there, you begin to sense something is wrong. We stayed there because it was the ONLY place we could find in the entire area that night. We should have slept in the car! We tried to remedy it afterward but found little interest by Wyndham to offer assistance. The hotel jacked their prices up because of a regional sports tournament but what we got was filthy room. When we went to check out the next morning the office was closed and dark- at 7:30 am!Stay in your car or keep driving all night!
MoreI only go to a Howard Johnson when I only require a hot shower and a clean pillow to put my head on while using my Wyndham rewards points. We got one of the two and that was the clean pillow to place our heads. The shower wouldn't produce hot water. Water was tepid at best. I did try to wash our clothes in the laundry; ended up having to find a coin operated laundry elsewhere as there was no rinse cycle in the washing machine. The early morning front desk gentleman was very good and provided extra pillows and quick help. The night one that kindly checked us in under stressful circumstances was also helpful. The rest of the staff were entirely unresponsive to any request -- even getting warm enough water to shower with. The property sits behind a Lowes and Walmart so quiet is not really an option at times. This hotel s only good enough for a quick stay and minimal expectations set at pet friendly and a bed.
MoreI'm a bit late writing this review, but it may help future travelers when they feel comfortable to travel again. We stayed here for four days before COVID hit. We felt it would be a fairly decent property since it had the Wyndham name. This property was quite the opposite of our Wyndham expectations. The room was very run down with cracks in the walls, especially in the bathroom. But the real shocker was that the hotel appears to house homeless. The room beside ours had homeless looking people coming in and out all day, at one point a women arrived with a shopping cart which she pushed into the room when she entered. Off and on we saw homeless people with their garbage bags of belongings sitting on the sidewalk outside the office, then later disappeared. Were they provided a room? In the morning when we went to the office for breakfast, all of the chairs and tables were full with what again appeared to be homeless. Each person seemed to gather plates of food at their table, obviously to take with them when they leave. The food counter was emptied out, but we had no desire to stay and get breakfast goods at that point. Last, as we were checking out at the office, we noticed several envelopes on the counter from the Department of Social Services. I can only guess that it is some sort of compensation from the government for the motel to board homeless. We definitely had the creeps after our stay. I felt like posting pics to prove everything I described, but it would probably be disrespectful of the homeless staying there.
MoreThis is a cheap rundown motel! The property is trashy and unkept with 50% of the rooms dilapidated and unusable. Management has no consideration for their few registered guests by trying to loudly renovate random rooms late into the nights. Complaints about this noise are futile with management continuing the practice.
MoreGreat help when booking. Friendly front desk. Even though their policy is that only ONE person can be in their lobby at a time, with mask in place. They also charge a $50 deposit up front but when you go to check out there is NO refund credited back at that time. I Almost think that could be a set up.. lol.. but still haven't seen any credit from them yet . And the smell, they should pay us for staying in that room and for the Spray used to make the room passable for two days since they couldn't move us to a different room or refund us so we could get a different motel.Okay now for that Smell of not so good roses....our opinion of the bad salty smell...We did stay here for the two nights but wish it had only been for one or none. Not that the room was filthy but there was a strange smell coming from the AC unit in the room or the carpet. We had to get some high end fabreeze to control the oder.Sad to think it is possible but there are some gross travelers out their and that is one reason for the $50 deposit. The smell was Almost as if some sicko had urinated in the AC unit. It looked to have been washed but the oder came back. We complained about the oder to the front desk and that we had to get spray to kill some of the smell. Can we we get a different room or someone to check it out? he said, No, that is normal. No refunds. i was thinking Great job on customer service this time, Not! --Why not get your customer a different room if you hear that they had a complaint and get someone to check the problem out?-- Like I said the room looked good except for the smell and thank goodness for having spray on hand. But there is a Walmart and Home Depot right in front of the motel. We fought through it and sprayed the AC unit heavily to knock out the smell as much as possible since we were stuck here for two nights. I sure hope that that nasty smell wasn't normal like he informed me but then on the other hand I pray that it was not what we thought it was...LolNeedless to say but we spent the next night at a much better place for about the same price off Ryan Drive and NO SMELL & NO DEPOSIT!!!
