I've been shopping for a new high end metal detector and saw the Cabela's carried the Garrett brand and had them in stock. Drove down to the store only to find out they do not have the detectors on display, only in a box. The sales representative had reservations on opening the box, let alone demonstrating the product. His knowledge was fleeting and so was my interest. The price on a new Garrett AT Gold or AT Pro ranged upwards from $500 and in my budget. My question: Would you buy an expensive metal detector without handling it first? Metal detectors are not dangerous - like a pistol, rifle or shotguns. Yet guns are on visual display as well as ergonomic (human factors) interface. Hmmm, I don't understand, but I do know there was - NO SALE! HELLO JOHNNY MORRIS.

I could stay here all day and look. It is very large and has an open feeling. A great variety of outdoor gear. Very helpful and friendly staff.

We were just driving through town and the boys had to stop. It is a nice store with friendly staff. We love camping and nature, so we enjoyed the displays too.

This is shopping heaven for the outdoor folks. If you hunt, fish, camp, bird-watch, or just enjoy the outdoors, Cabela'a is well-worth taking time to stop and shop.

We stopped to get my husband some boots and we failed. Nobody ever asked us if they could help. He looked at a few pair of boots but couldn't find his size nor anyone to ask. We will stop at Bass Pro Shop in Springfield as we travel north.
