Opened in 1980, this dive bar is still popular among the locals, young and old alike. Dimly lit with a cavernous ambiance, Nowhere Bar may not be a looker, but this is the place to unwind over some cheap drinks, play pool and enjoy live music. This watering hole is also a great spot to make new friends or bring along your gang for a few pints. If you are paying by a credit or debit card, there is a surcharge applied. So its better to carry along cash when you come here.

tripadvisorI come in here every now and then on a weekday afternoon to get a couple of cheap drinks and enjoy the laidback atmosphere. A lot of the other bars in town are way too loud and and full of obnoxious college kids. I do not know what this place is like later in the day or at night, but it seems to cater to an older, more sedate crowd in the afternoon. That suits me a just fine. They have lot of seating, a bunch of pool tables, good service, and a decent selection of beer, both cheap options and pricer craft options. Sadly, no draft, but this place is pretty good otherwise.
MoreWhether there's live music on stage at the Nowhere Bar, or you're just whiling away a few hours shooting pool or sinking pints, it's a great option for an evening out in Athens, Ga - right opposite the Georgia Theatre. It's not much to look at from the outside (come to that it's not much more than a dimly lit cavern to look at from the inside), but what it lacks in looks it makes up for in character and atmosphere. The stage was just being organised when we called in for early evening drinks - a good couple of beers, watched closely by a statue of Uga, the University of Georgia bulldog mascot, which stands in front of the stage holding out a pot to collect tips. There are a host of pool tables, while the decor in this dark and intriguing bar is appropriately chaotic. No wonder it appeals to Athens' vast student population. Pay cash, otherwise you have to pay a surcharge on cards. While one side of this bar has pool tables, the other has the bar itself and stage, plus a row of wooden booths to sit at.
