Visited the Friday of Labor Day weekend and despite the signage saying they were open through Labor Day, the mansion was not open. Strolled the grounds and viewed the restored outbuildings and lots of educational placards around the property. Hope to return when we can go inside the buildings.

Went to visit with my sister. Parked on the main street and walked up. They have closer parking but we wanted to walk up the tree lined entrance. Lovely place to walk through out. The house wasn't open at the time visited, but walking the grounds and reading the markers made for a enjoyable afternoon history lesson.

The battle of Chickamauga was a key battle between north and south. The Gordon Lee Mansion player an important role in that conflict. In a day, One can easily tour the battlefield, visit the mansion and see tunnel hill ( the story was told by Disney in the “Great Locomotive Chase” all in a day. You will come away with a greater appreciation of how this area was so instrumental in the outcome of the civil war.

Preserved to present the past to all future generations. Furnished with period antiques and artifacts, along with excellent history of civil war history for this region. All admission fees go to the preservation of the mansion and its rich historical content. The Christmas candlelight tours are especially wonderful !!

The inside was open for candlelight tours around Christmas . Very interesting . A lot of interesting furniture and some local history. Not as big as the mansions in Natchez but worth seeing.
