St. George Street follows a historically old pathway that was once used by the Timucuan Indians before the first European colonists arrived. Over the last 400 years it was used by the Spanish, British and Americans as the main thoroughfare in which commerce commenced in the New World. Today, it is a pedestrian-only street that begins at the Castillo de San Marcos and meanders past Maria Sanchez Lake until it ends at South Street. Along the way, there are many sights, restaurants and the place where guests will find all of the city's kitschy, sometimes tacky souvenir shops.

tripadvisorThis is a walking street with historic buildings made into restaurants and tourist shops. Lots of homeless but they didn’t seem to bother anyone. If you’re hungry, you’ll find no shortage of restaurants here.
MoreNo trip is complete if you don't spend time wandering around St. George Street. Full of history, beauty and unique stops along the way.
MoreSt. George St was fun and had lots of places to eat. The Colombia was probably the best meal I had while in town. It’s found about 1/2 way down St. George St. Just be aware the homeless population is there and very present as the day wears on into the early evening.
MoreGreat area. The walk was very nice; full of shops and restaurant and it was very clean
MoreSt. George Street is the heart of the historic district of St. Augustine. It is filled with small stores, restaurants, cafes, and more. There are public restrooms in 2 locations. Take your time and enjoy the walk. Beware - you will encounter multiple people asking you to support a variety of causes, a few homeless people, and at least one crazy person spouting nonsense. But we never felt uncomfortable. Travel down some alleyways for a few treasures.
