Came to see the historic hotel building. As an attraction, it is of average interest for a short stop. There is some history of the place on placards, interesting period objects and some rooms done in period decor. (Others are either empty or modern conference rooms). The 'art' is more community based amateur work than anything else, although I suppose fans of Eddy Mumma (currently exhibited) might disagree. I'll call him an untrained primitivist which is being too kind, perhaps should just stick to a folk art descriptor and leave it at that. This is free to enter, but don't go out of your way or sacrifice literally anything else you have scheduled.

What an amazing place kind and caring a very special place to go lots to do will be going again yiu are made very welcome nothing is much trouble always there to help nice walks and the swimming pool was so relaxing and very private to enjoy your time

The rain caused us to have some downtime. Rather than spending it couped up in the hotel, we visited this house.We were the only guests strolling inside. It did feel a bit creepy being by ourselves. When we got to the second floor, we did see some workers.I am not sure why this is a historic sight, but it being FREE made it worth the visit.The grounds are beautiful. I would devote more of my stay outside.

A visit to the Thomas center is well worth your time. There are four fully furnished period rooms where every detail has been included. There are a number of fascinating displays that highlight the history of Gainesville. The building and grounds are beautiful. The two art exhibits were well displayed and comprehensive. This is a wonderful gem in a beautiful historic neighborhood.

The Historic Thomas Center is a gorgeous venue and we wanted to have our wedding ceremony and reception there. Being public property and having many COVID-19 restrictions, it was a challenge, but Leslie Ladendorf and Jessica Loveless with the City of Gainesville and Thomas Center were so helpful and enthusiastic. They worked closely with us so we could have the dream wedding we wanted despite all the COVID restrictions. Leslie and Jessica went above and beyond to ensure that the event was perfect and every detailed was covered. Our wedding theme was lights and stars. Leslie and Jessica were even able to convince the city of Gainesville to allow us to keep the gorgeous Christmas lights that were in the magnolia trees around the fountain. Those lights which were blue and gold (our wedding colors) added an unforgettable feeling and made the ambiance feel like a true fairy tale.
