tripadvisorGreat location near the ocean. Sufficient parking in an area where parking can be sparse. Good menu and food selection. Plenty of beer choices and a few decent wine choices as well. Staff could and should be more attentive. I do not like to have to get up and go to the register/counter to get my check and to pay. Unnecessary if the staff pays some attention to the customers.
MoreHad lunch on the patio. Ingrid server was awesome. Guac was good but way too much. Chips & salsa nothing special. Tri Tip Melt as good as last time. Veggie taco excellent. Fried fish taco ok. Have been here many times and will return.
MoreGreat location, service, food and atmosphere. What more can you ask for. They used to have a fun trivia night on Tuesdays, not sure if it's still going on. I'm a local and I go here pretty often.
MoreI wanted to have really good local Ventura fish tacos and Social Trap was close by, so I walked to the establishment. Upon entering I was informed where to order the fish tacos. The staff member that saw me at the order screen was helpful and ordered the two fish tacos for me & even asked how I wanted the fish cooked, opted for one fried and one grilled, the type of shells, corn & flour. The price I thought was reasonable, $5.00 each. I did take a while, as I also believe they are made to order, a good note. When I arrived at the place I was staying and opened the package, the tacos were a good size, not too small, yet not overly large and they came with a side of salsa, on the darker brown side, and delicious. When I looked at the size of the fish, within each taco, the grilled fish was small, more of a narrow triangular size, and the fried fish was also small. The size of the fish was not alarming, as I understand the quality of the seafood is what matters. The grilled fish was just about okay, as the fish was not well seasoned. However, the veggies within the taco along with the salsa helped in taste. The texture of the grilled fish was good, as it was grilled well. The fried fish, which I was excited to bite into, was completely another story altogether. After biting into the crisp outer crunchiness, the fish was literally mushy and thank goodness for the veggies and much more salsa. With lovely Ventura, I did expect the fish, anyway, it is cooked to have the fresh fish texture and deliciousness in every bite. The tortillas shells were good, yet I did not see information that they are hand-made or locally made, which is always a plus. I do believe the Social Tap is a good recommendation and would give the fish tacos another try as the tacos were okay and would go with the grilled fish for sure and much more of their delicious salsa.
