tripadvisorIf you want to watch the sunset. This is the place to be ! Absolutely gorgeous!! Perfect in the Fall. Perfect in all seasons !!
MoreA great park. 235 acres of immaculately manicured shoreline, meadows, marshland and piney forest trails. Very nice 911 memorial. Dedicated model plane runway area. Dawn to dusk. Nature center. Large covered pavillion with seating. Paved trails. Picnic tables and bbq grills throughout the park. Food kiosk on weekends. Toilets. Ample parking. ADA. Dogs in winter, only CT residents free. Car fee for out of state.
MoreWe met friends here for a picnic and were pleasantly impressed with our experience. Entry is free for CT license plates, and there's a lot of parking here, which is nice - we had no trouble finding a spot on a summer weekend. The whole park is spread out, and there are plenty of picnic tables and places to grille, so even when the park is busy, there's still a lot of space. There's space to walk near the beach, although I wish that more of the pathways had been paved. I did see that there was a building for parties, and the bathrooms were pretty nice. There's a lifeguard on duty if you want to go swimming.
MoreVery large beach area which is good since it was very crowded on a Sunday in July.It cost us $22 as out of staters to enter, a bit steep since there's not much there. The sand is like a gravel with broken sharp shells near the shore line making it torture on the feet. Long Island sound water is rather murky. It can't compare with beaches in New Jersey and Long Island.
MoreLocated in the Greens Farms' section of Westport, this is CT's oldest state park. Visitors can come to walk, bike, swim, fish, watch birds, fly kites or picnic under the trees. There is no parking fees for visitors with CT vehicles. From April through the end of October, the parking fee for out of state vehicles is $22 on weekends and $15 on week days. The fee is $7 after 4 pm. Check out the friends of Sherwood Island website for upcoming events.
