We went to see Leslie Nielsen's grave, and do a bit of birdwatching. It was quiet & peaceful, with only birdsong to be heard. We sat on Leslie's bench for a while, then spotted our first ever raccoon about 20 yards away! The birds were interesting too - we saw 2 types of woodpecker on one tree, a family of white ibis pecking around amongst the graves, northern cardinals, blue jays & mockingbirds. Not a usual tourist spot, but we enjoyed our morning there!

I visited this cemetery for one reason and one reason only, the legendary comedic actor Mr. Leslie Nielsen. The famous Canadian lived to be 84 years old. I remember him for his two most popular movies, 1980's Airplane! and 1988's The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad! I am serious, and don't call me Shirley.

We went on a Saturday morning. A hand full of people.Quiet and relaxing. Cemeteries always tell a secret story of the past.

Cemeteries do not tend to be touristic attractions. There are some notable exceptions (Recoleta in Buenos Aires to name one) but otherwise these places are somber and people are not there for a happy time. This place is a peaceful environment in a very upscale area of South Florida and very close to the water.

Evergreen Cemetery is small, still maintained, but doesn't get a lot of visits. My visit was because of downtown location.
