tripadvisorThe trails are scenic and offer a good variety of paths and terrain. The facilities are clean and well maintained. Very relaxing place to walk and take in the woods and wildlife.
MoreDeeded to Fishers as a nature preserve to remain as such. It was gifted by Ruth Lilly to the then Town of Fishers. The City of Fishers maintains it in its natural state. You can walk, jog, bike from morning till dusk. You will see deer in mating season.
MoreThis is a very good park in an up and coming suburban city. You can’t tell you are in the middle of subdivisions and streets. Lots of walking trails. The only thing is it can get kind of busy on really nice days. They have a big gathering/picnic area for outdoor events as well. Really nice and taken care of. They have bathrooms and drinking fountains as well for use.
MoreThe brief escape to nature is priceless in these often hectic times. Nice walking paths and well marked. Great for kids or dogs..
MoreThis is a 120+ acre park with a couple picnic areas, and several foot trails totaling a little under 2.5 miles. There are woods, prairies, wetlands, and even a small swamp. There is a crushed rock pathway that leads from the parking lot to the two shelters which are less than a quarter mile from the parking lot. There are permanent restrooms that are maintained as well. You really feel like you are away from it all - despite being solidly in the NE suburbs of Indianapolis. Would definitely recommend stopping at the cabin when you get in and pick up a map of the trails. There are signs throughout - yet it is easier if you have the map. I did all of the trails; some twice. A couple short ones take you out into the prairie. The longer ones are through the woods - complete with an old family cemetery on the longest one. Finally, there's a swamp trail - with a boardwalk. Prepare to get muddy. You'll cross creeks on a bridge - yet the trails can still get wet and muddy - I only had it on my shoes and the bottom of my pants. If you are going here to hike, I highly recommend stopping by the little building at the parking lot and grabbing a pamphlet about the park. Within it, there is a map showing color coded trails and lists how long each trail is. This can be really useful since the trails seldom go in straight lines. Each trail intersection has a post with a sign showing which trails head in the corresponding directions. That is great for first time visitors like myself. There are a few benches by the shelter, by the front, on the swamp trail, and at the intersection of 2 trails through the woods. I spent over 2 hours here - you don't need that long - but I was really enjoying. Average is probably closer to 1.5 hours.
