Reviews
tripadvisorBEWARE, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.If you can avoid this place, do so. We have stayed at hotels worldwide, this place should be shut down. **We were given permission to post this detailed review by manager, he mentioned his name is Bean** Two South Florida area female attorneys traveling with two children, needed a clean basic hotel to spend two nights at as they planned to visit peace river for fossils to show at school. We were misled by fake photos from Expedia and neglected to read reviews. The greeting was not present, just the front desk clerk yelling at some folks that were in the lobby that he was going to have them trespassed if they didn't shut up and stop disturbing him. We were checked in and found rooms in serious disrepair, building is old and run down, one towel to share that was thin like something in a prison. Few dead bugs on corners of room, walls and doors with lead paint peeling, bugs, and missing fire safety equipment! (being addressed by local fire marshall) Did not bother to try the food areas, or pool areas so can't review those. Floors dingy, difficult to sleep with noise from people up and down halls and outside the building. Horrible experience that we would not wish on an enemy or even for housing homeless. This is not supposed to be a $29 a night motel. The propietor Mike his American name, Mr Chauhan decided to ignore calls, messages, and email communications to address this matter, therefore we have decided to share our experience publicly in an attempt to protect individuals that may be considering staying at this property. If you can't sleep in your car, maybe this dump will work for you, but please avoid if you can, specially if you are traveling with young children that shouldn't be exposed to hazards. You are welcome to check out other reviews of properties and businesses worldwide. We tend to tell it like it is and currently stand as a Level 7 TRUSTED GOOGLE GUIDE. It will be interesting to see what this hotel operator has to say about the shortcomings during our visit. We HAVE YET TO BE REFUNDED, for night number 2. We ran out of there after a few hours of sleep on night 1, kids were tired. By the time it was time to check in for night 2, we got out of there. No way we were going to sleep there so decided to drive home to Palm Beach. We were not expecting a Four Seasons or a Marriott/ Hilton but we paid enough to have safety, security, cleanliness, quiet and some decent hotel not motel accommodations at a 1 star dump
MoreBeware! Paid $199 for 2 nights. The rooms looked good online, so we booked. On arrival the rooms did look as pictured, but our stay was terrible! When we realized the heat wasn't working inside our room, we went to the office. He informed us that none of the rooms in that part of the hotel have heat. He suggested that we reset the unit, but be careful to do it correctly or you could get zapped. Reset did not work. He said they had space heaters for the rooms with this problem, but all of them were in use at the time. We asked to switch rooms to one that had heat and he said that was not possible. My whole family, including my 2 young children froze on the first night. They put us in a room with no heat and no blankets. Just beds with a single sheet and very thin bed cover. We left the next day only to return and discover that we had been locked out of our room. Went to the office to get that fixed. When we got back into the room we found that they had finally given us a space heater so that my children didn't freeze. Thought night 2 would be better, but it only got worse. While sitting in the chair I noticed that little bugs were crawling all over the dresser. Then after looking around we saw that they were also inside the bathroom sink, the microwave, the shower walls, and the bedroom walls around our headboards. By the time we woke up we realized the power was now out, which means the space heater also does not work. A hotel room with no power! We couldn't even see enough to pack our things! Had to use our phone lights for everything. I went to the office and Rosie the office clerk tried to help us, but couldn't get the power back on. I told her that this was unacceptable and we need to fix this. She contacted the owner and he would only refund $25, was very rude, and hung up on her. This was unlike any hotel experience I've ever had! I've stayed in great hotels as well as cheap ones. This was definitely a bottom of the barrel experience. If you plan to stay, pack accordingly. Bring your own blankets, flashlights, and bug spray. You will need it. Do not bother to speak to the owner about anything because all he is interested in is your money. Unbelievable that rooms with no heat and a bug infestation are even being rented out! I have never left a negative review before, but there is a first time for everything. The only plus side to this place is there is a very nice little restaurant called Mike's grill on the same property, but owned by different people. The food was GREAT and the staff was AMAZING!
MoreReally nice place to stay in Bartow. The room has a refrigerator with a separate freezer section. Mike's Grill and Desperadoes Saloon are on the property. The pool was open in December and the rates were reasonable. The bed was comfortable and there was plenty of hot water for a shower.
MoreHORRIFIC! We woke at 6 am, to a man (not a registered guest, according to front desk) turning an entire trash can upside down and searching for...? So SCARY!!! I would NOT return to our room till check out time to collect our belongings! The prior evening, LOUD vibrating music continued to be played despite my husband notifying Mr Bean at front desk. Earlier before dark, they were out by the pool and claimed ownership as the LOUD music drove everyone off.The towels for shower use are postage sized and dyed black. The shower pan is not tall enough to contain shower water, coupled with shower curtain being too short and shower curtain rod is screwed into tile so it cannot be lowered. My husband takes only a 5 min shower but it was a disaster as it left a flood of water we had to clean up with postage sized towels. Probably the first time that floor has been cleaned and may explain why towels are dyed black. The exhaust fan above the toilet in the bathroom was ready to fall out of the ceiling as the paint was all crumbled and broken away from edges of vent and leaving white paint chips on black towel left on top of toilet tank. The barn door to bathroom needs all the filthy handprints scrubbed off and sanitized, gross! The curtain to look out and see who is knocking on front door needs to be laundered or replaced as you can see multitude of years of dirty handprints, as well. Think crime scene, eww! Speaking of crime scene, the mattress was re-covered in a black fabric, who knows what that is concealing!?! The chair in that room is so disgusting, it triggered my allergies and needs to be thrown out!!! Mr Bean assured my husband the room was, very nice. If that was very nice, I'd hate to see not nice. No hangers an no where to hang up what my husband was wearing next day as it was a business trip. I would have preferred to drive 50-100 more miles or 1-2 extra hours to have a safe and clean stay rather than ever stay there again!
MoreWe had to stay in a hotel because of hurricane Ian. We chose this hotel because of the location and price. The front desk was run by one person and I had to wait 10 minutes for the person to return and unlock the doorThe following were issues:Dirty pillowsDirt swept into cornersLeaking faucetVery noisy patronsPizza left in the microwave Moldy dehumidifier in roomRusting light fixtureRipped chairMy husband was asked for money or a cigarette every time he walked outside the room, we don’t even smokeWalked to dollar store and the people on the streets were scary people
