Intended as a multi-use center when it was built in 1926, the Sarasota Opera house has had quite the history. Besides serving as a performance venue, the space has also been used for shops and apartments. It has played host to such performers as Will Rogers and Elvis Presley, as well as the world premier of the film "The Greatest Show on Earth." The Sarasota Opera House, which can accommodate about 1,200 spectators, also serves as one of the venues for Florida's premier chamber music extravaganza: La Musica International Chamber Music Festival. Head to this Mediterranean-style attraction for some of the best entertainment in town.

tripadvisorThe Opera House itself was beautiful, but unfortunately, the overall experience was very disappointing. We have always loved the Opera House and have had wonderful experiences there, so this was especially unfortunate. The way some of the vendors treated guests was uncomfortable and, at times, made us feel as though we were bothering them by asking for food. I understand that some vendors may have donated their time or food, and I appreciate that, but we were paying guests, not people asking for a handout. It really took away from what should have been a wonderful event.
MoreLa boheme was fantastic! Great sets, orchestra and performance. We'll be back next season!
MoreEverything was fine until the valet almost ran us over and then proceeded to be rude and delusional A LOW- life who exchanged delusional words with me and my date. He must have been drunk
MoreI had a wonderful experience at the Sarasota Opera House. Everything was very well organized, and the performances were truly impressive. I’ve seen several operas there, and Pagliacci was my favorite, the acting was incredible. The Merry Widow was also beautifully done. The staff is friendly and welcoming. They offer valet parking, and you can enjoy a nice glass of prosecco before the show or during intermission.
MoreEscorted my mother to the opera house to see LaBohème. The experience was underwhelming. We have been to the Metropolitan Opera in NYC. In comparison, the performance was like a high school musical. We are unlikely to attend another performance.
