tripadvisorThis is a small (40 sites) Campground in proximity to Leesburg and The Villages. The sites are not as level as they could be given that they recently added pea stone to all the sites . The water and electric utilities functioned properly. Some (very few) sites have a sewer connection - ours did, but it was at the very rear of the site, and up hill from the RV. Heavily treed so not much chance for satellite, no included WiFi, some OTA stations, and a strong Verizon signal.
MoreThe campground has been completely renovated. The dirt roads and campsites have been turned into paved roads and gravel camping sites that are pretty level. There’s water/electric at every site, several with sewer hookups and pull-through. The two hiking trails are well shaded and marked fairly well. You can rent a canoe or kayak go for a boat ride. Everything is neat and clean. It’s a great getaway weekend camping spot. And a must see is the second largest Live Oak. Its crown spreads over 150 feet. It’s gorgeous.
MoreHad the best time Valentine’s Couples Night hike . Enjoyed an evening with about 20-30 other couples for a night hike. The park furnished flashlights, sweet snacks before and after the hike. Was a great evening enjoying the night natural beauty. Will definitely do again.
MoreWe love Lake Griffin!!! The best camping experience ever!!!
MoreWent for the Valentine’s Day couples hike which was supposed to take place at 5:45 PM and it never materialized The local paper said meet at the pavilion and we arrived at 5:25. No one, not even a park ranger ( if they still have them) or volunteer showed up. I even called on February 10 to confirm that reservations were not necessary. The response was no reservations needed just show up and free snacks would also be provided. Thank you for wasting our time. Apparently nothing to see at this State Park!
