We decided to stop in on our way to Decatur. As soon as we walked in we were warmly greeted. They had an entire display of self serve classic candy- Banana bites, Mary Jane’s, the roundish caramels with white cream centers…divine. The place has kitchenwares, soap, knives…exactly what one would expect in a mercantile.So glad we stopped.

So much fun! A blast from the past. Well worth the drive from Huntsville. It was like walking back in time as everything is kept in repair, has a well-appointed layout, and has unique products that are things you would want. We love picking out candy from the bin, getting old-fashioned sodas, and picking out amazing chocolate confections from the case. I love the vinyl Southern sayings stickers and Tshirts. What a great place to spend an afternoon! They even have a seating area with checkers and a former soda fountain type stool area where we could eat all of our fun finds. Well worth the drive. We’ll be back. They’re also right across the street from a pizza place.

What a wonderful experience we had shopping in U.S. White Mercantile. From pyrex mixing bowls, old fashion percolators, to cast iron cookware along with a whittling area, we saw so many things out parents and grandparents used in daily life.

We were spending the night in the area and decided to check this place out based on the reviews. It was a great place to look around - both old and new things. The staff is friendly. A great place to visit.
