St. Regis Hotel Washington, DC opened in 1926 and has been host to political figures and royalty ever since. Designed in the Italian Renaissance fashion, it is exquisitely furnished. Rooms feature both classic and modern amenities from Italian marble baths to fax machines. Each looks like it could easily be a guest room in some foreign dignitary's French chateau. The hotel is located near the White House and the National Mall. Though the rooms are a tad steep in the price department, the luxury and class they promise is unmatched.

tripadvisorThis was a very disappointing stay .It did not seem like a St Regis… but more like 4 star hotel at best. The rooms are quite old and they are all overpriced for the quality. They have paper few amenities , coffee cups (St Regis should at least have proper cups as in all hotels) Apart from the fact that this is a historic building there is nothing much that a St Regis could compare to. The staff was disappointing also . Most of the act very snobby and seem almost lazy to help, and the butler service is not where near where it needs to be for the St Regis standards. There are some people at reception and bellmen depending who you get that are more polite , but overall it does not give a good impression. The staff in the restaurant do put some effort in attending the clients .Also this hotel even has very limited room service ! There are only 4 ready packed dishes available after 11 pm! I asked if they could make some toast and even that was not possible - and all are prepackaged items that can’t even be changed slightly (I asked if they could remove bacon or croutons out of the Caesar salad and it was not possible…) The location of the hotel is good , close to the whitehouse and the hotel has a beautiful lobby.
MoreDuring the night between August 15 and 16, 2026, I found two cockroaches in my room at the St. Regis Washington, D.C. I killed and photographed one, could not sleep for the rest of the night, and left early the next morning. That is unacceptable for a St. Regis. What followed was worse. The hotel acknowledged the incident and my early departure. Marriott Claims later acknowledged the roach too — yet formally refused responsibility because it said it could not establish “negligence”.I have been loyal to Marriott for many years and am an Ambassador Elite member, its highest loyalty tier. This is not about points or compensation. It is about standards, accountability and corporate culture. The incident was disgusting. Marriott’s handling of it was shameful.
More★☆☆☆☆ Hostile Staff, Substandard Service, and Poor HygieneI am deeply disturbed by the treatment I received and the overall lack of standards during my stay at this hotel. While a property can occasionally encounter technical issues, the outright rudeness, staff bias, total absence of basic service, and poor room hygiene made this an appalling experience.Upon returning from the gym, my room key stopped working. When I went to reception to get it rekeyed, the receptionist was dismissive and extremely rude. Instead of politely helping me resolve a simple key card malfunction, she treated me with immediate suspicion—at one point, she ostentatiously turned her computer screen away from me as if I were a delinquent trying to spy on sensitive information. English is not my first language, and it was painfully obvious that her condescending demeanor was rooted in bias against non-native speakers. Being treated like a criminal simply for asking for a working key while speaking with an accent is humiliating and entirely unprofessional. To make matters worse, the attitude at the hotel's restaurant was just as disgraceful. The hostess clearly preferred staring at her phone instead of greeting guests, leaving us standing there waiting while she ignored us to scroll. On top of that, the rest of the service was virtually non-existent: we were supposed to have a dedicated butler, yet he never bothered to introduce himself until the very last night of our five-day stay. Leaving guests without guidance or support for almost an entire week completely defeats the purpose of premium service. To top it off, room upkeep was severely neglected—the restroom was never cleaned properly throughout our entire stay.Between being subjected to discrimination by the front desk, indifferent restaurant staff, complete negligence from the butler service, and unsanitary room conditions, this stay was an utter disappointment. Management needs to overhaul their staff training, basic service standards, and hygiene protocols immediately. I will never return.
