Although I do pottery (and my partner does not), we both really enjoyed the one night Raku experience. You begin by selecting a pot made by a local potter but only fired (cooked) once. After learning the basics—like waxing the bottom of your pot—you select the glazes that you want. How pottery will come out is always something of a mystery—that is the fun part.Everyone’s glazed pottery is then heated to red hot, then (safely) put in a metal trash can with stuff that burns. Once you clean off the char and ashes, you have a pot that is ready to go home!I highly recommend this for just about any age. It is a safe, low stress way to do something very different and creative.
