A stunning sight of coastal wilderness, the Natural Bridges State Marine Reserve is a protected area that was established in 2007. The landscape at the reserve is characterized by dramatic cliffs sculpted by waves and a rocky shoreline, which shelter a range of fauna. It also features beautiful tide pools that reveal a fascinating glimpse of the marine life underneath during low tide. Visitors can explore the region and admire the mesmerizing sea life that thrives in its natural habitat. Fishing or displacing any marine life is strictly prohibited at this protected marine park.

tripadvisorThis is definitely a hidden gem! We walked all around and even though the tide was not at its lowest, we were able to see anemones, etc in the tidepools! The staff at the office is top notch, personable and caring!
MoreDuring the long July 4 weekend in the US, we went to this Sta Cruz beach and it was chilly. I like that this beach is not crowded even on a weekend.
MoreNice piece of nature. Well worth a visit. Free from the overlook. A small fee if you want to walk out to the beach area.
MoreA beautiful sandy cove on the west side of Santa Cruz that is easy to get to……. surrounded by picturesque arched rock formations jetting out into the sea on one side and flat/porous rock that forms amazing tide pools at low tide on the other side. The beach is large enough to bring a family to play in for the day. There is free parking on the street adjacent to the beach, or you can pay the park service $10 to enter and parking in their lots. There’s a visitor center along with clean bathrooms. Definitely worth your time to visit.
MoreNo visit to the bay area is complete without some of the magic that Natural Bridges offers. Beach, tide pools, seals and pelicans splashing in the Pacific, cliffs, migrating monarchs... No matter what time of year, I find peace and joy at this amazing park. It is great with my older kids. I think it would be amazing for all ages, as long as your kiddos are good listeners. There is a pollinator garden, a cute little nature center and gift shop, picnic tables, and plenty of bathrooms by the parking lot.
