Harrison Bay State Park State Park

Part of Chattanooga's charm is its scenic beauty. Mountains surround the valley where the city rests. The Tennessee River flows through the city and an elaborate system of dams creates a number of lakes and bays for recreation. It is along the shore of one such bays that this state park resides. Cradled along the fringes of Chickamauga Lake, this park boasts a highly-picturesque landscape punctuated with a tapestry of woodlands and parklands. Amid the striking interplay of hardwood and pine trees, this state park also hosts a range of activities like camping, picnics and plenty of play. The site is home to two restaurants, while The Jack Nicklaus and Bear Trace golf courses have brought yet another dimension to it. A stunning amalgam of nature and recreation, Harrison Bay State Park is one of the many jewels embedded on to the beautiful course of Tennessee.

This is a great State Park in Tennessee. We were in campground B in a pull through site which had an open view of the lake and Marina. The showers were ok and could use some help. We did walk over to campground A and preferred the bathrooms and showers. The sites on the water B36-47 were wonderful. Great setup in the loop. Lots of grass area. The campground is on Chickamauga Lake, beautiful park with lots to explore and enjoy.

We were fortunate enough to secure lot B37 several months ago for a week in October. It’s at the very end of the loop, and except for the occasional biker, walker or free range child, it’s got a great view through the woods to the water and the marina. We are a 33’ 5th wheel and turned one loop too early and man was that tight! Last night a Class A pulling a trailer took a wrong turn and was 10’ into our lot; my husband moved our truck took help him as best he could but he missed our fire pit by 2”. I’m not used to campgrounds quite this narrow. And I would NOT stay on Loop B unless you can secure and end slot because the others are just packed in like sardines, unless of course being on top of people is what you like when you camp!

If you travel with your own bathroom-you’ll be glad.RV and tent camping are mixed together-in some areas verrry close together.Whoever had our campsite before us must’ve been traveling with a shedding alpaca because clumps of hair were literally covering the entire area around our picnic table. Some campsites were very strange. For example: one diesel rig’s camp-side was paved road. They were actually sharing their space with vehicles driving through! On the plus side: check-in was easy, Our space was fairly level, Park Security keeps speedy driving under control, and our area was quiet throughout the night ✅

Over all the park is nice but camp sites can be a challenge in some areas and all the restrooms, tables, and table platforms need some major updating. The thing that really grabbed my attention was the Campground Host in zone “C”. He obviously lives there full time in his Motorhome with pontoon boat, bass boat, car, truck, golf cart, motorcycle, work trailer, 10x20’ garage tent, and great BBQ area. I was a little jealous when he backed his boats into an empty site near us and pressure washed them throughout our afternoon. This is a great park if you want to get on the lake and do some fishing. Otherwise it’s a decent stop through for us.
