I love this store for the eclectic gift ... little somethings for everyone! They have great cookbooks, wonderful sort of eclectic kitchen gadgets, silly things that will encourage laughter, a small selection of BEAUTIFUL handbags and jewelry. I always walk out with at least a little something... most recently a pair of socks that say 'Thou art the bomb'! Love them!! Was having a down day and they made me laugh out loud.

The original Compass Rose is in Olympia. Tacoma is lucky; we have the nicer of the two. Compass Rose is somewhat divided in half - one part is nicer clothing, jewelry and bags. They have some kitchen items like Le Creuset, but it seems the Olympia store has more of that. The other half is cards, small gifts, gag items, novelty and trend things. It's a good place for a last minute, casual gift. The card selection isn't large - so don't go just for card shopping. Some things are locally sourced, but many things are common to boutiques of this style and not from the NW. Don't get me wrong - I love their Ayala Bar jewelry, but she's Israeli. Hotcakes jewelry is from the East Coast. This isn't a cheap boutique, but it has really lovely things and it's a much needed addition to the Proctor area. I'm sure if Bill Evans had his way, everything would become this high end in this area...(hahaha...local joke). Ample free parking in back.
