Plenty of bars, pubs, and places to eat for dinner in this iconic area of downtown Knoxville delivers a great experience. Get there early as these places fill up.

The name is definitely more exciting. Most everything closed during the day, and even whatever might be open at night, nothing much to see.

We rode the free trolley from downtown to the Old City. We walked around, looking at murals and looking for an antique store. We found several. The architecture is interesting, and the area is not that far from downtown.

Cool to drive around and see all the murals & old buildings in the area. Not much open due to Covid I think. Really expensive lofts. Loved Pour Taproom, where you serve yourself whatever beer, cider, mead & wine that you like using a bracelet with a sensor. Nice patio to sit on that was once a Train Station. Pretentious has a cool patio out back & yummy beers. I guess they make glasses next door however it wasn't open due to Covid & they were serving out of plastic cups right now. I want to go back & get a glass.

I almost blew this part of town off. Gay Street and Market Square are the main focus points when visiting Knoxville. I walked down Gay Street to the Bridge and took the stairs down. I walked to an old warehouse that had a distillery and Microbrewery which were fabulous. Grabbed a hot dog across the street and continued to walk among restored historic buildings that were lovely. No crowd in Old Town. Very relaxing. If it is a weekend - look for the Pop-up bar with Corn Hole and Bocci. Picnic tables and BBQ food truck supply the beer and food. REALLY FUN. Walk back up the hill to Gay street - and you are back to the maid drag.
