The Dixons were a childless couple who collected art, both fine and decorative and left it all to the city when they died. The travelling exhibits, are often spectacular and have included Faberge eggs, glassworks by Seattle artist Dale Chihuly, and an explosion of color from Raoul Dufy. The 17-acre (7-hectare) garden is usually open for strolling, except during outdoor concerts, picnics, or theater productions. The museum shop often has items from Memphis' Great Wonders exhibits! The museum is free for everyone on every Saturday between 10 am to noon.

tripadvisorOne of my favorite attractions in Memphis! Totally free, beautiful grounds, nice museum that is the perfect size for a couple of hours. Nice cafe on site. Check it out!
MoreWe visited in the Spring and enjoyed the tulips. This visit, the roses were beautiful. This is a perfect place to take pictures. The art gallery is quite interesting with paintings my famous artists. They keep the gallery is nice and cool. Admission is free which is rarity these days!
MoreBeautiful, thank the Botanic Garden shuttle driver for referring visitors! Dixon is beautiful spring gardens, design and flower specimens are gorgeous. Inside the mansion the art and porcelain collection is like a smaller version of The Fricke in Manhattan. This place is a gem, thank you Dixons!
MoreWonderful garden and museum. Spring planting just past its prime but tulips and azaleas still showed the beauty of the gardens. The museum was a surprise of very famous artist. I really enjoyed both.
MoreNot a bad place to visit if you're in Memphis, but not a must see... Small museum with several rooms of paintings by famous painters, and then nice gardens where you'll see butterflies.
